John A. Johnson, M.D.
John Johnson, M.D. serves at the Chief Physician Advisor for Siftwell Analytics.
Dr. Johnson has more than two decades of diverse experience in the medical field. He has deep managed care experience, having previously served as Chief Medical Officer for major health plans in Georgia, North Carolina, Virginia, and Ohio. In these roles, Dr. Johnson oversaw the plans’ clinical operations, quality initiatives, and complex care management.
Dr. Johnson began his career practicing internal medicine in Atlanta, where he treated patients with acute and chronic conditions. Johnson owned and operated a successful private practice, where he developed a celebrated program to treat those with diabetes. The experience he gained as a direct care provider working to improve community health provided him with invaluable insights for his later roles in managed care.
Dr. Johnson has also served as a Colonel in the United States Army Reserves Medical Corps with 25 years of service.
Johnson graduated from Seton Hall University and received his medical degree from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. He is board certified in internal medicine and a fellow of the American College of Physicians. Johnson also earned an MBA with a focus on health care management from Emory’s School of Business.
In addition, he is the president of the Emory University Medical Alumni Board, is the president-elect of the Medical Association of Atlanta and is vice-president of the board of directors for Leadership Empowerment Project, a nonprofit that helps African American men excel in their first years in college.
