Yoscel Shannon

Head of Data Science

With her most recent experience in data science and strategic team management,  Yoscel Shannon brings 18+ years of work experience to her role as Head of Data Science at Siftwell. With a proven track record of leading multidisciplinary teams and implementing advanced data-driven solutions, Yoscel is dedicated to leveraging innovative analytics to drive business growth and improve business outcomes.

At Siftwell, Yoscel is dedicated to developing and supporting data science strategies that align with the organization’s goals. She is focused on improving data science capabilities and driving innovative solutions to address business needs. Yoscel is also committed to hiring and developing data science talent.

Originally from Venezuela, Yoscel obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Geophysical Engineering from Universidad Simón Bolívar. She furthered her education with a Master’s degree in Geophysics from The University of Oklahoma. Committed to continuous learning, she completed a postgraduate degree in Data Science and Business Analytics from the Texas McCombs School of Business and participated in the Artificial Intelligence Implications for Business Strategy Program at MIT Sloan + CSAIL.

Throughout her career, Yoscel has spearheaded innovative projects that integrate multi-variate analytics models including the use of geospatial data.  Her expertise in predictive analytics methodologies has significantly reduced uncertainty in the drilling of oil and gas wells, enhancing strategic planning and operational efficiency in the energy industry.

Yoscel is passionate about spending time with her family and traveling, especially to Hawaii where humpback whales migrate yearly. She volunteers her data science expertise to the Pacific Whale Foundation in Maui, contributing to the conservation and study of these magnificent creatures. Yoscel holds a patent for a method to determine Q-Factor using coda waves from microseismic events. She is fluent in both Spanish and English, and has a conversational grasp of Italian and Portuguese.

Yoscel lives with her husband, young son, fur babies, and one chameleon.
